Download and upload speeds can vary due to a number of factors. Network design, network equipment, computer capabilities, server load, network utilization, and network overhead are a few of the reasons that test results may vary over time and between tests. Sunflower attempts to limit these variables by utilizing this speed test in which we can control some of these factors. Sunflower is unable to verify speeds where home networking equipment and multiple computers are involved. For best results, the speed test should be preformed from a single computer connected directly and solely to the cable modem.
There are many speed tests available on the Internet, but those tests run across networks that Sunflower does not maintain and on servers that are beyond our supervision. Due to the lack of control of those parts of the test, Sunflower is unable to verify the results generated by external testing servers are accurate.
